In July 2022 I made one of my dreams come true when finally visiting Zermatt. Despite having lived in Switzerland for a year and a half at that point, I have never visited before, because I wanted to take time to thoroughly explore the town and its breathtaking surroundings.
Hereby I share with you my short videos from the 4 days long journey in Zermatt. I hope it will give you some ideas about what you can do and see in Zermatt, if you are visiting for multiple days.
Day 1 – Arrival, city of Zermatt and view points
On the first day we took some time to check-in, look around the city and check on the famous view points on Matterhorn.
Day 2 – Trail of five lakes
Our second day we spent on the famous trail of five lakes. We’ve had a lot of fun and saw so many beautiful views. This trail should be on the itinerary of every visitor of Zermatt, in my opinion!
Day 3 – Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and Gorner Gorge
On the third day we took the gondola to 3883 metres above sea level and visited Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. The ride is not exactly on the cheep side, but the view and the attractions are so worth the investment. Especially impressive is the glacier cave full of ice statues.
Later in the afternoon, we visited Gorner Gorge. Wooden walkways took us above the wild glacier river and through the rock rupture created by nature 220 milion years ago.
Day 4 – Gornergrat train ride and hiking
On our final day we took the Gornergrat bahn to ascent to Riffelberg. From there we continued our journey on foot to Gornergrat. We had a wonderful view on Matterhorn, Gorner Glacier and we also met the blacknose sheep, that graze on the Gornergrat meadows.
Et voilà! That’s it – that’s how we enjoyed our trip to Zermatt in 2022. I hope that you liked the shorts and that you got some ideas about what you can visit in Zermatt in four days. 🙂
